Sholay
Sholay is a landmark movie of Indian cinema.He is directed by ramesh sippy and produced by his father G.P Sippy. These film was shot in Ramanagar in southern state of Karnataka.These movie took two and half years to complete.Sholay was release with the length of 198 minutes.When Sholay was released it received negative critics,but within some time it gain speed and become a box office success. It broke many box office records for continuing showing in theaters across India and ran for more than 5 years. Sholay create the record for continuing showing in theaters for more than 5 years.And that time sholay became the highest grossing movie of Indian cinema.In january 2014 it was re-released to theaters in 3D format.Sholay was a great story of revenge,tolerance and courage. Sholay movie was about dacoit Gabbar Singh which is played by Amjad khan and retiered police officer which is played by Sanjeev Kapoor and two theaves which played by Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.And also two female actors are Hema malini who played the role of Basanti and Jaya baduri who played the role of widow.As I said this movie was a landmark movie of Indian cinema because in sholay every character justify with their performance. Sholay leaves a big impact on Indian cinema. Every character gave a big impact on people even small role also give big impact.
People would see many villain but audience never forget Gabbar singh. Gabbar singh was a most popular villain character of Indian cinema.People never forget his dialog like 'kitne aadmi the',Ab tera kya hoga kaliya'. Not only his dialog but other dialog also still live on the lips of people like 'itna sannata kyo hain bhai' and Viru who is played by Dharmender had dialog 'in kutto k samne mt nachna' .Every scene of these movie was excited.Salim-Javed pair were writers of these movie.primarily Gabbar character was offered to Danny Denzongpa but these role has given to Amjad Khan who justify his role by his acting.
The film was shot in Ramnagar in karnataka so filmmaker had to build a road from bangalore to ramnagar for convienent access for the set.One part of ramnagar called 'Sippy nagar' as a tribute to director. Sholay movie completed in two and half years and went over budget.One reason for high cost was that Sippy re-filmed many scenes to get his desired effect.'Yeh Dosti' which is a 5 minute song take 21 days to shoot.R.D Burman was a music director of sholay and lyrics written by anand Bakshi. the item song'Mehbooba Mehbooba' was sung by R.D burman.Sholay was released on 15 August 1975 . In first two week it received poor financial returns but in third week it gain speed . sholay went on to earn still standing record for 60 golden jubilee and was the first film to celebrate silver jubilee at over 100 theaters.
