In this blog i am talking about some interesting facts of Indian cinema (Hindi film industry) . I am feeling proud to share with you about commencement of Indian cinema. Around 104 years ago the first movie of India cinema was released, this movie name is Raja Harishchandra. I am telling about the fact of the first movie of Indian cinema. Right now Bollywood become the largest film producer of the world but its beginning from 1913 when first movie of Indian cinema was released. Raja Harishchandra was the first film of Indian cinema directed by Dada Saheb Falke. It is silent film as there is no any sound in this movie. Dadasaheb falke is considered as father of Indian cinema.
The first Indian sound film was Alam Ara which was released in 1931 directed by Ardeshir Irani. It is the starting of sound movies.
In 1937 he made the first colour film kishen kanya and in the next year he made second colour film Mother India. During late 1940 the golden age of Indian cinema started. This period proved itself to be the golden age of Indian cinema. Some of the most critically acclaimed hindi films were produced in this period like "pyasa"(1957), "Kagaz k phool" directed by Guru Dutt. Some of the most featured film of Indian cinema were produced in this time like Mother India which was nominated for academy award for best foreign language film.
Now India's first three superstars had arrived. And they are Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar and Devanand. They were the most popular actors of Indian cinema at that time and the successful actress were Nargis, Vijayantimala, Nutan and Madhubala. They gave many blockbuster films during their time. India's one of the most expensive, featured film was Mughal-e-azam. This movie was the most successful movie of that time, it took around 15 years to completion. The development of Mughal-e -azam began in 1944 and it was released in 1960. It was the widest released movie if that time, it broke all records and became highest grossing movie of that time.
During 1960-1970 Indian cinema had changed. The 1970 was when
"Bollywood" name was coined.It is time for new generation and the Arrival of many new actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, jeetendra and Dharmendra while the actress were Sharmila tagore, Mumtaz, Hema Malini and Rekha. The first superstar of Indian cinema was Rajesh Khanna who won the talent hunt competition and entered the bollywood.He gave back to back 15 hit films which was the record.And other superstar was Amitabh Bachchan. People called him "angry young man" because of his character in movies. And I will tell you another facts of Bollywood in my next blog.
