Amrish Puri
Bollywood is not only about hero, Bollywood is also about villain and Amrish puri is one of the best villain of Indian cinema.Amrish puri was born on 22 june 1932 in Naman city of Punjab.He has played a many negative role in many movies.He is most remember for his role of Mogambo in Mr.India.His father name is Lala Nihal chand puri and his mother name is Ved kaur. He had four siblings elder brothers are Chaman puri and Madan puri.Both of them are actors.And elder sister Chandrakanta and young brother Harish puri.He later moved to Shimla and completed his graduate from B.M college.His elder brother Madan puri was also played the role of villain.He was married to Urmila diveker. He has a son Rajiv and a daughter Namrita.
Amrish puri acted in more than 400 movies and was one of the most successful villain of Bollywood.But Amrish puri failed in his first screen test and he had to work in Employee state insurance company.He also worked as a Government employee for 21 years. In 1961 he started working in theater.He was so dedicated to theater that he was awarded with 'Sangeet Natak' Academy award.He slowly entered into T.V commercial and at the age of 40 he did his first movie.He was signed his first film for 'Reshma or Shera'.He was an actor who was not only known for his acting abilities but for heavy voice too.
In his beginning career he usually worked as supporting role in movies.He was notice in super hit film 'Hum Panch' in which he played the role of main villain.Then he started playing a role of villain.In 1982 he played the role of main villain in Vidhata.He went on to work in Hindi, Kannada, tamil,telugu, punjabi, malyalam and hollywood.In villainous role he is most remembered as mogambo in Mr.India, Balwant rai in Ghayal,Barrister Chadda in Damini and Thakur Durjan singh in Karan Arjun. He became so famous that Hollywood director Steven Spielberg had to come to his doors and he was signed for Hollywood movie 'Indiana jones and temple of Dooms' where he played the role of moralana.He was widely appreciated for his role.
Besides of playing role of villain he also played some positive roles.Some of notable positive roles are in Dilwale Dulhaniya le Jayenge, Ghatak ,Pardes and china gate.He won the Filmfare best supporting actor award in 'meri jung' and 'Virasat'.He won best actor award in Sydney film festival for 'suraj ka satvan ghoda'.He also won filmfare and star screen for supporting role in Ghatak.Amrish puri died on 12 january 2005 due to brain haemorrhage.Bollywood lost its one of most successful villain.
