Jackie Shroff is an Indian actor. He was born on 1st february 1957 in Udgir, Latur in Maharashtra. His real name is Jaikishen Kakubai Shroff. He has been in Indian cinema for almost four decades. People called him Jaggu Dada.His father Kakubhai Haribhai shroff was an Astrologer and he is from Gujarat. And his mother is Rita Hurinissa was an Uyghur from Kazakistan. When his mother left Kazakistan she lived in Laddakh for sometime and after then she came to Mumbai, where she met Jackie Shroff's father Kakubhai Haribhai shroff. Jackie Shroff belongs to a rich family but his father Kakubhai Haribhai shroff face heavy loss in business and his family kicked out him from house.
Then Jackie Shroff's family lived in Teen Batti Area of Malabar Hill, where his whole family lived only in one room.When he was 10 years old, his brother died by drowning. Before entering into films he worked in travel agency.Once he was standing on Bus stand, someone came to him and asked him to do work in model industry.He modelled in few advertisement. Then he started taking acting classes. In acting classes he met Sunil Anand, who is the son of great actor Devanand. And Jackie Shroff asked Sunil anand to meet Devanand and he met Devanand and he got a small role in Swami Dada. In his beginning career he did small roles in movies.
He was doing a small role in movies.Then Director Subash Ghai gave him a big chance. He gave him a lead role in his film 'Hero'.
His opposite actress in this film was Minakshi Shashadri. Then he did many movies like Karma, Ram Lakhan and sachche ka bolbala etc.His pair with Anil Kapoor was a superhit pair. Most of the time Jackie Shroff played a role of elder brother and Anil Kapoor played a role of younger brother. This pair gave many hit movies like Ram Lakhan, Trimurti,Andar Bahaar and many more. And it was a director Subhash Ghai who gave his screen name 'Jackie' when he launched him in his movie 'hero'.
In 1986 he did 'Karma' Movie which became the highest grossing movie of 1986. But he is most remembered for his film Ram Lakhan. Coming to his personal life , he married to Ayesha Dutt, who is half french and half bengali. The couple runs a media company , Jackie Shroff Entertainment limited.They jointly owned 10% shares of Sony TV. The couple have two children, a son Tiger Shroff who is a film actor and a daughter Krishna. In 1990 he won the filmfare award for best actor for his film Parinda, In 1994 he won the filmfare award for best supporting actor for his film Khalnayak. He won many award in his filmy career.
