Rajesh khanna, the first superstar of Indian cinema.His real name is Jatin Khanna. He was born on 29 december 1942 in Amritsar in the state of Punjab.He gave 15 consecutive solo hit films, still an unbroken record.He made his debut in 1966 in 'Akhri Raat' movie which was not a hit movie.Rajesh Khanna did his first two years of Bachelor of Arts in Nowrosjee Wadia College in pune from 1959 to 1961.In 1965 Rajesh Khanna won the 'All India Talent Contest' organised by united producers and filmfare from more than 10000 contestant.In 1971 he acted in 'Hathi mere Sathi' movie, which became that year's highest grossing movie.
In 1969 to 1973 Rajesh Khanna gave 15 consecutive solo hit movie, still is an unbroken record.These movies were Doli, Aradhana,Bandhan , Ittefaq, Do raste, Khamoshi,safar,The train, kati patang,Sacha jhutha, aao milo saajna,Mehboob ki mehendi,Choti Bahu, Anand, Hathi mere Sathi.Many girls wrote love letter to him by their blood.In 1976 to 1978 he gave only 5 hit movies while nine movies were not commercially successful.Now this was his 'Rise to Fall' time.In early eighties he did many movies but few movies was successful.Before joining politics his last movie was 'Swarg' which was great movie.
From early nineties, he joined the politics. He served as a congress M.P from 1991 to 1996.He made a comeback in 'Aa Ab Laut Chalein' in 1999, where he played the role of hero's father who left his family for earning money and after so many years when he met to his son then he decided to returned to home. people appreciated his role very much.He did 4 television serials in 2000 to 2009.During his career he played the lead in 74 movies that were shown to cinema for more than 50 continuous week and 22 movies which were shown to cinema for more than 25 weeks but less than 50 weeks which means his 74 movies were golden jubilee and 22 movies were silver jubilee.
In the late 1960 and early 1970s Rajesh khanna fell in love with fashion designer and actress Anju Mahendru. They were in a relationship for seven years.Later he married to Dimple Kapadia in march 1973. They have two daughters from the marriage Twinkle khanna and Rinke Khanna.When Rajesh Khanna was married to Dimple Kapadia, many girls was committed to suicide.Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia were separated in 1984 but did not complete the divorce proceeding. In june 2012 he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital due to health complication. He was discharged on july 8 and was reportedly fine.On july 14 he was readmitted to Lilavati hospital but was discharged on july 16.He died on july18 at his bunglow, Ashirwad.On july 18 Indian cinema lost his first superstar.
